We specialize in every aspect of masonry including Tuckpointing, Chimney Rebuilds, Masonry Restoration, Custom Fireplaces, Chimney Liners, Basement Restoration, Lintels and more.
Far too much tuckpointing is being done improperly and is often structurally unsound, and aesthetically unpleasing. Mortar joints need to be ground out to a specific depth prior to backfilling with new mortar. New mortar needs to be the proper type, usually type "o". New mortar joints need to be struck and brushed to match existing. We can make many different colors to match the existing mortar color on your home.
Chimneys are usually the first thing to fail on masonry buildings. Being free standing above the roof, they go through more thermal expansion and contraction than the rest of the building. We have seen many houses that have had chimneys repaired multiple times, and even completely rebuilt a few times. This shouldn't be; if the source of the problem is properly diagnosed, the work should last decades. At Plumb Masonry, we have tuckpointed and/or rebuilt thousands of chimneys. We understand the dynamics involved in fireplace and furnace exhaust systems, why they fail, and the proper corrective action required, whether it be a rebuild, new concrete crown, flashing or tuckpointing.
We can rebuild or restore any chimney to match the original. We specialize in finding bricks to match the existing bricks, as well as in difficult scaffold stagings. We take care to not damage landscaping and are expecially conscious of clean-up.
Plumb Masonry does many types of concrete work. Sidewalks, steps, stoops and driveways.
We do any kind of brick or stone work. Custom Fireplaces, hardscapes, new parapets, lintel replacement.
A major cause of masonry chimney damage is oversized and deteriorated clay flues. A stainless steel liner keeps corrosive, acid-laden moisture in furnace exhaust away from masonry. A liner also properly sizes the exhaust system for your furnace and water heater. Ventinox stainless steel liner comes with a lifetime warranty.
We replace rusted, leaking deteriorated lintels, angle irons and steel beams. We use all new steel, installed with proper flashing and weeps to prevent future rust and water related deterioration.
